Testing & Inspection Services

Mold Investigation and Testing are provided exclusivly by a Mold Remedies Preferred Network of independent, Certified Indoor Environmental Professionals (CIEP). These third party administrators provide all the necessary investigation, testing and clearances. There are various types of Inspections available depending on the particular needs of the project and the information you provide. Utilizing state of the art electronic moisture detection equipment, infra red technology, pressure testing, destructive testing, educationa and experience will allow these CIEP to identify the water intrusion issue and any mold amplification.

We recommend that you contract with one of our recommended indepedent Certified Indoor Environmental Professionals directly as this maintains their professional status and assures that you the Client will be best served with an independent evaluation of; what needs to be specifically accomplished; certification that the work has been accomplished properly; and that the indoor air quality has been returned to safe levels. Below is a list of Companies we would suggest working with. We utilize them when we are contracted to provide initial inspection, testing, evaluation and protocol. We have found them to be very competent, professional and service orientated.

There are several different options available when it comes to Testing and Inspection. Determining which one is best for you depend on your needs, the properties physical status and historical information you provide to the Certified Indoor Environmental Professional.

Things to consider regarding an Inspection:

  • Is there visible discoloration and is the contaminated area redily indentifable - in this case a BMI may not be necessary as; you know the mold exists and you can see it.
  • No visible discoloration but the occupants are sick or there is a distinctive odor - this would require at a minium a BMI and possibly a further FI to properly indentify the souce and water intrusion issue.
  • If the property is a public facility, tenant/landlord issue, health facility, school, etc. - a BMI and a PRVT are highly recommended as these help protect you from liability issues and document that the mold contamination has been resolved.

Baseline Mold Investigation (BMI)
This is a thorough investigation attempting to determine the causation, the level of contamination and the remediation necessary for correction. A BMI is a full evaluation involving temperature, humidity and moisture readings taken at various locations around the property or where a water intrusion has occurred; depending on the physical layout of the property a minimum of 3 samples are taken. These are then compared against outside baseline samples to determine if the type and quantity of indoor mold spores are substantially different and a detailed report is generated.

Post Remediation Validation Testing (PRVT) REQUIRED
Upon completion of any remediation activity the areas need to be tested to assure the Mold contamination has been reduced to acceptable levels. The Post Remediation Validation Testing is the final step in any Mold Remediation process, air samples are again taken both indoors and outdoors with the samples compared against each other to assure that the type and quantity of mold spores are similar in nature and do not exceed in quantity those on the exterior. Read more about our exclusive PRVT GUARANTEE.

Forensic Investigation (FI)
Provide water testing and tracking with state of the art electronic equipment to locate moisture and water intrusion. In some situations a Baseline Mold Investigation is not sufficient to get to the causation of the Mold contamination, this is where Forensic Investigation becomes necessary. Utilizing state of the art electronic moisture detection equipment, infra red technology, pressure testing, destructive testing, our ability, experience and expertise will will identify the water intrusion issue.

Preliminary Site Survey (PSS)
A Preliminary Site Survey is a visual evaluation where physical discoloration is present. This partial inspection would involve a small water leak in a sink base or vanity cabinet and or condensation issues. No report is generated or samples taken. If a proposal for remediation is prepared the cost for the PSS would be credited towards the work once approved. Click for more info.
